The incident occurred in Butler, PA while former President Donald Trump was delivering a speech. Eyewitnesses reported hearing gunshots ring out, followed by a moment of stunned silence. To the astonishment of the crowd, Trump who was immediately surrounded by Secret Service got up with blood on his face and pumped his fist as the Secret Service rushed him off of the stage.
Early reports from Law enforcement officials indicate the a suspect in connection with the shooting was killed at the scene. The motive behind the attack remains unclear.
News of the shooting has sent shockwaves throughout the country and beyond. Sylvia Engel, Chairwoman of the Edison Republican Committee said “My thoughts and prayers are with President Trump and his family, we are all praying he is okay. This senseless violence has to stop.”
