The Edison football team beat South Brunswick 46-14 on Friday night, bringing their record to an even 4-4 on the season. The Eagles, showcasing a potent offense and opportunistic defense, controlled the game from the opening whistle.

Edison wasted no time establishing their dominance. On the very first play from scrimmage, Nykier Eato exploded for a 69-yard touchdown run, setting the tone for the rest of the night. After South Brunswick drove deep into Edison territory, Landon Cruz picked up a fumble and returned it 97 yards for another Eagle touchdown, pushing the lead to 12-0.

Eato continued to shine in the second quarter, adding another touchdown on a 26-yard scamper. Quarterback Anthony Calantoni connected with Cruz on a 39-yard touchdown pass to further extend the lead. By halftime, the Eagles held a commanding 25-7 advantage.

The second half saw more of the same. Lenier Whetstone found the end zone twice with runs of 12 and 18 yards, showcasing the Eagles’ powerful ground game. Eato capped off his spectacular performance with an electrifying 82-yard kickoff return for a touchdown, sealing the 46-14 victory.

“I give a lot of credit to the kids this season,” Coach Matt Yascko told Central Jersey Sport Radio after the game. “They never quit and we are playing our best football in late October, which is where you want to be.”

With this impressive win, the Eagles have built momentum heading into the final stretch of the season. Their next game promises to be another exciting matchup on Thursday at home against Paterson Eastside.
