Edison Introduces 2025 Budget With No Discussion

Edison, NJ – Edison’s 2025 municipal budget, proposed by Mayor Sam Joshi, was introduced by the Township Council amidst procedural errors and limited transparency. A reported less than 1% property tax increase offers little insight, as details remain scarce.

A council vote occurred before discussion, an acknowledged mistake by the Township Attorney. The budget wasn’t posted online as of March 28, and detailed information is absent beyond a press release citing a 0.98% tax rate rise, without specifying homeowner impact. Meeting dates for public hearings are also unknown.

This contrasts with 2024’s $175.9 million budget, which included a 2.5% tax rate increase. Residents currently lack crucial details about the 2025 budget’s allocations and impact on their tax bills.

Township officials have not responded to emails requesting more detailed information about the budget according to a MyCentralJersey.com article by Suzanne Russell.
