Edison residents may soon see more warehouse development, this time near a popular local amenity. Applicant 135 Whitman Renewal LLC is seeking Planning Board approval to construct two warehouse buildings with accompanying office space and trailer parking at 135 Whitman Ave., adjacent to the Edison-Metuchen Dog Park.
The proposal includes:
- Building 1: A 50,400-square-foot building with 46,100 square feet dedicated to warehouse space and 4,300 square feet for offices. This building would also include 31 parking spaces and 11 trailer spaces.
- Building 2: A smaller 10,125-square-foot building with 8,925 square feet of warehouse space and 1,200 square feet of office space.
Documents submitted to the township confirm that existing access to the adjacent Edison-Metuchen Dog Park at 200 Whitman Ave. will be maintained.
The applicant is seeking both preliminary and final site plan approval at the Planning Board’s October 15 meeting, along with any necessary variances and waivers. This proposal may raise concerns among residents about potential increases in traffic and noise near the dog park.
