Berger Team Wins Two Council Seats in Piscataway

0

Piscataway Mayor Brian Wahler narrowly won his bid for a seventh term, defeating progressive Staci Berger by only 829 votes, 3,274-2,445.

Despite Wahler being elected to Council in 1992 and serving eight years before becoming mayor in 2000, Mayor Wahler was not able to carry his council candidates as in years past. Two incumbents who ran with Mayor Wahler, Linwood Rouse (2,396) and Kapil Shah (2,405) lost to Berger’s running mates Laura Leibowitz (2,656) and Sarah Rashid (2,542)

The extremely close election and success of her running mates makes Staci Berger the early frontrunner to win her Ward Council Seat in 2026. For comparison the certified results of the 2020 primary election are below, the 2024 results have not yet been certified.
