Edison, NJ – A 37-year-old Edison man is in custody following his arrest in connection with a series of armed robberies that have plagued the area around NJ Transit’s Edison station in recent weeks.
Lamond Ellis was apprehended on November 8th by detectives from the Edison Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Bureau. Chief Thomas Bryan reported that Ellis was spotted wearing clothing identical to that worn by a suspect in one of the robberies, leading to his arrest.
The robberies, which occurred over several weeks, prompted a concentrated investigation by the department. Detectives noticed striking similarities between the incidents, including the suspect’s use of a bicycle and a firearm to demand cash and valuables from victims near the train station.
Ellis has been charged with three counts of armed robbery and is currently being held at the Middlesex County Adult Correction Center in North Brunswick. He is awaiting a detention hearing.
