ETEA Hosts Candidate Night for Board of Education

Edison, NJ – The Edison Township Education Association (ETEA) held a candidate night on September 25th, 2024, providing a platform for school board aspirants to present their visions and address pressing concerns. The event, hosted by ETEA President Matt Hrevnic and moderated by Dawn Penney and Jerry Campione, spanned 90 minutes and offered a comprehensive look at the candidates’ platforms. Two tickets and one independent candidate participated in the forum:

  1. Student First Team: Comprising former Board of Education (BOE) members Jerry Shi and Ralph Errico, along with newcomer Ronak Patel.
  2. Empower Student Success: Dimple Malhotra is running independently on this line.
  3. Champions For Student: Includes current BOE members Brian Rivera and Doug Schneider, joined by newcomer Manoj Jaitly.

The candidates fielded a range of questions covering key educational issues, including curriculum development, student support services, and the impact of the pandemic on learning. Each ticket outlined its distinct approach to tackling these challenges, providing voters with clear choices ahead of the upcoming election.

The ETEA candidate night offered a valuable opportunity for Edison residents to engage with those vying to represent them on the school board. The event underscored the importance of informed voting and active participation in shaping the future of education in the community.
