The Edison High School girls basketball team improved their record to 4-1 with a nail-biting 54-52 victory over Metuchen at home. The game was a back-and-forth affair, with both teams showcasing their offensive firepower.
Senior Olivia Smart had a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Adding to the offensive punch was freshman Carmela Arana, who contributed 18 points and controlled the tempo from start to finish.
Metuchen came out strong in the first half, taking a 30-27 lead into the break thanks to the efforts of Vicky Zaniecki (13 points) and Sammie Powers (12 points). However, Edison showed their resilience in the second half, outscoring Metuchen 27-22 to secure the hard-fought victory.
