EDISON, NJ – A 36-year-old Irvington man, Makiano Francois, has died following a two-car collision early Tuesday morning at the intersection of Route 1 and Grandview Avenue in Edison.
The crash occurred at approximately 12:07 a.m., according to Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone. Upon arrival at the scene, police found two vehicles involved: a Ford Explorer driven by a 48-year-old Brooklyn man, and a Mitsubishi driven by Francois.
Francois suffered serious injuries in the crash and was transported to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick. He later died from his injuries.
The driver of the Explorer sustained minor injuries and was also taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital. He was treated and released.
Authorities have not yet released any further details regarding the circumstances of the crash. An investigation is currently underway.
