Scheduling Snafu: Fall Family Spectacular Clashes with Fall Pickup on Amboy Avenue

Edison, NJ – Excitement for the upcoming Fall Family Spectacular scheduled for September 28th on Amboy Avenue is running high, but a scheduling conflict with the Fall Pickup in Districts 4 and 9 has raised concerns among residents.

The much-anticipated Spectacular, set to run from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., will transform Amboy Avenue into a hub of family-friendly activities and entertainment. However, the Fall Pickup, also scheduled for Saturday, September 28th, in Districts 4 and 9, which includes Amboy Avenue, has thrown a wrench into the plans.

Fall Pickup rules stipulate that collection begins at 6:00 a.m., and residents are required to have their materials curbside no sooner than 48 hours before cleanup day. This means that residents along Amboy Avenue will need to place their Fall Pickup items at the curb no sooner than Thursday evening, potentially creating obstacles and congestion for the Spectacular setup and attendees.

“It’s supposed to be a fun day for families, not a cluttered obstacle course,” stated Councilman Rich Brescher. “We need to pay attention to details and do a better job planning. Our residents deserve better than this.”

The scheduling conflict has left residents and organizers scrambling for solutions. Some residents have expressed frustration with the overlap, fearing that the Fall Pickup materials will detract from the festive atmosphere of the Spectacular. Others worry about navigating the crowded streets with both the Fall Pickup and Spectacular activities taking place simultaneously.

Organizers of the Fall Family Spectacular are working closely with the township to address the situation. They are exploring options such as adjusting the Fall Pickup schedule in the affected areas or coordinating with residents to ensure that Fall Pickup materials are placed in designated areas away from the main event space.

The township is urging residents to be mindful of the scheduling conflict and to cooperate in finding solutions. They encourage residents to place their Fall Pickup items as close to their property line as possible and to avoid blocking sidewalks or driveways.

The hope is that with some careful planning and cooperation, both events can proceed smoothly and successfully. Residents are encouraged to stay informed about any updates or changes to the schedules and to do their part to ensure that everyone can enjoy a safe and enjoyable Fall Family Spectacular.
