Edison, NJ – June 17, 2024 – The Edison Arts Society (EAS) proudly announces the recipients of its esteemed 2024 scholarships: Lia Maureen Babol, awarded the Angelo Orlando Arts and Music Scholarship, and Adedoyin (Addy) Shittu, the inaugural recipient of the Thomas John F. Kenney Memorial Scholarship.

Angelo Orlando Arts and Music Scholarship

Lia Maureen Babol, a graduating senior at Edison High School, has been selected for the Angelo Orlando Arts and Music Scholarship. This scholarship honors Angelo Orlando, a co-founder and former president of EAS who was instrumental in fostering the arts in Edison. Babol’s artistic talent, dedication, and passion for knowledge make her a worthy recipient of this prestigious award.

“Lia’s unwavering pursuit of personal and artistic growth, along with her radiant spirit, make her the ideal recipient of this scholarship,” said Liz Hahn President of the Edison Arts Society. “We are confident in her ability to use this opportunity to further her creative journey and share her light with others.”

Thomas John F. Kenney Memorial Scholarship

Adedoyin (Addy) Shittu, also a graduating senior at Edison High School, is the first recipient of the Thomas John F. Kenney Memorial Scholarship. This scholarship is a poignant tribute to Thomas Kenney, a talented musician and athlete who passed away at a young age. Kenney’s musical accomplishments, athletic prowess, and exceptional kindness continue to inspire those who knew him.

Shittu’s selection for this scholarship is a testament to her outstanding talent, dedication, kind heart, and zest for life. Her commitment to personal growth and artistic expression has set her apart, and the EAS is confident that she will make the most of this opportunity.

“Addy’s passion and talent exemplify the spirit of this scholarship,” said Liz Hahn. “Her journey is truly inspiring, and we eagerly anticipate the positive impact she will continue to have on the world.”

Both recipients are shining examples of the artistic talent and potential that thrive within the Edison community. The EAS extends its heartfelt congratulations to Lia Maureen Babol and Adedoyin Shittu on their remarkable achievements and wishes them continued success in their creative pursuits.
