Edison, NJ – Concerned residents are invited to a special meeting on July 25, 2024, at 7:00 PM at the Clara Barton First Aid Squad (1079 Amboy Ave.) to discuss the impending release of the Environmental Assessment for the controversial Thomas A. Edison Park redevelopment plan.
The National Park Service is poised to unveil Middlesex County’s Environmental Assessment, detailing a proposed $65 million Destination Athletic Complex that has raised significant community concerns. The project would dramatically transform the existing park, cutting down 11 acres of trees and replacing them with 14 artificial turf fields and a 1300-space asphalt parking lot. Residents fear increased traffic congestion, noise pollution, and the loss of valuable green space.
