The Edison High School girls tennis team displayed resilience and determination in a hard-fought 3-2 victory over Highland Park on Tuesday afternoon. Despite dropping both first and second singles matches, the Eagles rallied to capture third singles and both doubles matches to secure the win.
Nandini Chandra fell 6-3, 6-2 in first singles, while Khaliyah Revan lost 6-1, 6-1 in the second singles position. However, Lojein Elgebrawi swung the momentum back in Edison’s favor with a 6-3, 6-2 triumph at third singles.
The doubles teams continued the positive trend for the Eagles. Brieanna Smithen and Vijeta Garg dominated their first doubles match, winning 6-3, 6-1. Sanaya Patel and Shivangi Bhuyan clinched the overall victory for Edison with a 6-4, 6-2 win in second doubles.
With this win, the Edison girls tennis team improves their season record to 4-2. They now eagerly anticipate their next challenge, a home match against Monroe on Thursday September 19th. The Eagles will look to carry the momentum from this close victory into their upcoming contest.
