Edison, NJ – Led by a stellar performance from Nykier Eato, the Edison Eagles football team soared to a 27-13 victory over the Franklin Warriors on the road. The Eagles came out strong, showcasing both offensive firepower and defensive resilience.

Edison chose to kick off after winning the coin toss, immediately setting the tone with a successful onside kick recovery. The Eagles tried to capitalize on the excellent field position, driving down the field before stalling at Franklin’s 25-yard line. The Warriors responded with a four-and-out, giving the ball back to Edison. The Eagles wasted no time, driving down the field and capping the possession with a 1-yard touchdown run by Shaun Garland. The successful extra point put the Eagles up 7-0.

Franklin managed to answer with a touchdown of their own just before halftime, knotting the score at 7-7. However, Edison’s momentum carried into the second half. On the opening drive, Nykier Eato exploded for a 45-yard touchdown run, reclaiming the lead for the Eagles at 14-7.

Edison’s offense continued to pressure Franklin’s defense, but a promising drive was stopped short at the 1-yard line on 4th and goal. Franklin failed to capitalize on the defensive stand, going four and out. Nykier Eato took charge once again, bursting through the Warriors’ defense for a 35-yard touchdown run. While the extra point attempt failed, Edison extended their lead to 20-7.

In the fourth quarter, Edison sealed the victory with a 20-yard touchdown run by quarterback Anthony Calantoni. Franklin managed to add a late touchdown, but it was too little, too late. The final score stood at 27-13 in favor of the Eagles.

Nykier Eato had a standout performance, rushing for 225 yards and scoring two touchdowns for the Eagles. Head Coach Matt Yascko expressed his satisfaction with the team’s performance, saying, “I’m happy for the boys, they needed it and they played well.”

Edison improved to 2-3 on the season as they prepare for their next game at home against Colonia on 10/4. Franklin fell to 3-2 on the season with the loss.
