The Edison High School girls basketball team earned bragging rights and a key victory on Tuesday, defeating crosstown rival JP Stevens for the second time this season on the road. The Eagles improved to an 8-6 record with a strong team performance, while JP Stevens fell to 3-6.
Freshman Carmela Arana led Edison with 14 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists. Isabella Charles dominated the boards with a double-double, contributing 14 points and 11 rebounds. Angelisa Kearns also reached double figures, adding 11 points for the Eagles.
JP Stevens was led by Mansi Mohanraj, who battled hard and put up 14 points in the loss.
Edison’s balanced scoring and strong rebounding proved to be the difference in the game. The Eagles will look to build on this momentum when they return home to face South Plainfield on Wednesday, January 16th at 5:30 PM.
