EDISON, NJ – The Edison High School baseball team (1-2) pulled out a hard-fought 10-6 victory over GMC Red Division rival Old Bridge (2-2) on the road in an 8-inning contest. After falling behind early, the Eagles demonstrated a tenacity and offensive firepower, culminating in a four-run rally in the top of the eighth inning for their first win of the season against the defending GMC champs.

The Eagles started strong, scoring two runs in the top of the first inning to take an early lead. However, Old Bridge responded quickly in their half of the inning, scoring three runs to seize a 3-2 advantage. The Knights extended their lead in the bottom of the second, adding another run to make it 4-2.

Old Bridge continued to build their lead in the bottom of the third inning, scoring two more runs to extend their advantage to 6-3. The game then settled into a tighter affair through the middle innings, with both pitching staffs working to limit further damage. Edison managed to chip away at the lead in the top of the seventh inning, scoring three runs to tie the game at 6-6, setting the stage for a dramatic finish.

In the top of the eighth inning, the Edison offense came alive. Capitalizing on opportunities and delivering key hits, the Eagles surged ahead, scoring four runs to take a 10-6 lead.

Old Bridge came to the plate in the bottom of the eighth looking to respond, but the Edison defense held strong. The game concluded after eight full innings with Edison securing the 10-6 victory.

Robert Roma earned the win for Edison, contributing not only on the mound but also with a strong offensive performance (2 hits, 3 RBIs). Daren Tirado also had a standout day at the plate (3-for-4, 2 RBIs). Ray Tavarez and Dante di Pasquale provided valuable innings on the mound for the Eagles.

For Old Bridge, Matt Levitt was tagged with the loss. Offensively, Chris Crosta, John Smith, and Erich Schikschenet each recorded two hits, while Justin Hascup contributed with two hits and two RBIs.

This win marks a significant turning point for the Edison Eagles, showing their ability to battle back in a crucial divisional win. The late-inning rally will undoubtedly provide a boost of confidence as they continue their season. For Old Bridge, this tough loss will serve as a learning experience as they look to rebound in their upcoming games.

Edison will play Old Bridge again at home on Monday 4/7 at 4pm.
