Edison Facebook Group Moderator Faces Second Harassment Charge Amidst Controversy

Edison, NJ – The ongoing feud between two prominent Edison Facebook groups has taken another legal turn as the moderator of the Edison Taxpayer group, Gail Lamoreaux, has been charged with harassment for the second time by Kathleen Nielson, aka Kat Hunter, the moderator of the Edison Residents group along with former BOE member Shivi Madhukar.

The recent charge stems from a post made by Lamoreaux on the Edison Taxpayer group page stating, “I have been charged with harassment and told the charges would be dismissed if I close the group.” This post, according to the complaint, violated the confidentiality of a private mediation session held to resolve the initial harassment charge.

However, the complaint fails to acknowledge the presence of Saketa Chadalavada, Mayor Joshi’s Campaign Manager and Treasurer, in the courtroom during the mediation. Chadalavada was eventually asked to leave by the mediator. This omission raises questions about the impartiality of the process and the potential influence of political affiliations.

Adding to the controversy, the complaint was approved by Judge Depti Dedhia, a 2022 appointee and a close friend of Mayor Joshi. This connection has further fueled allegations of bias and a potential misuse of power.

The situation has sparked outrage amongst members of both Facebook groups and the wider Edison community. Many see this as an attempt to stifle free speech and criticism of the local administration. Others are concerned about the politicization of the legal system and the potential implications for future disputes.

The case has yet to be resolved, and the outcome could have significant ramifications for the future of online discourse in Edison. As the community awaits the court’s decision, the debate surrounding the charges and the involved parties continues to intensify.
