    Edison High School Celebrates Fall Athletes at Awards Night

    Edison, NJ – Edison High School recently honored its outstanding fall athletes at the 2024 Athletic Department Fall Awards Night. The ceremony recognized the dedication, sportsmanship, and achievements of student-athletes across various sports.

    The prestigious Robert Coward Award for Male MVP of the Season was presented to Anthony Calantoni, a standout football player. Calantoni’s exceptional performance on the gridiron throughout the fall season earned him this well-deserved recognition.

    The Robert Coward Award for Female MVP of the Season went to Emili Horiki, a talented gymnast. Horiki’s remarkable skills and contributions to the gymnastics team were acknowledged with this top honor.

    The Frank Cangelosi Award, recognizing the strongest in academics among male athletes, was bestowed upon Ethan Alcover, a dedicated football player. Alcover demonstrated a commitment to excellence both on the field and in the classroom.

    Isabella Charles, a skilled soccer player, received the Frank Cangelosi Award for the strongest in academics among female athletes. Charles’ outstanding academic record alongside her athletic achievements made her a deserving recipient of this award.

    The Robert Peterson Award, honoring the unsung hero of the season, was presented to Mark Paladino from the cross country team. Paladino’s unwavering dedication and support for his teammates exemplified the spirit of this award.

    Brynn Conover, from the girls’ volleyball team, was recognized with the Frank Red Award. This award acknowledges not necessarily the best player, but a leader who inspires and motivates their team. Conover’s leadership qualities and positive influence on his teammates earned him this special recognition.

    In addition to these awards, the following athletes were recognized as Most Valuable Players for their respective sports:

    • Boys Soccer: George Kostis
    • Girls Soccer: Isabella Charles
    • Girls Tennis: Lojein Elgebrawi
    • Boys Cross Country: Bryce Hickerson
    • Girls Cross Country: Rylee McAvoy
    • Cheerleading: Lindsay Yascko
    • Girls Volleyball: Sachita Balamurugan

    The Edison High School Athletic Department Fall Awards Night was a resounding success, celebrating the accomplishments and character of its student-athletes. The award recipients exemplify the school’s commitment to both athletic and academic excellence, as well as the importance of sportsmanship and leadership.
