Edison Jets Cheer Program Wins National Championship

The Edison Jets cheer program celebrated a truly remarkable 2024 season, with both the Junior Peewee and Junior Varsity teams achieving extraordinary success on the state, regional, and national levels.

The Junior Pee Wee squad showcased their exceptional talent and dedication throughout the season, culminating in an impressive collection of accolades. They were Central Jersey champs, crowned state champions and Eastern region champions, demonstrating their dominance in their division. Their journey continued to the Pop Warner Nationals, where they earned the prestigious title of silver medalists.

“We are so proud of these athletes.  The hard work they put in shows in the results. They always work together as a team and I think that has always been instrumental in their success this season” said Cheer Coordinator and Assistant Coach Jen Westdyke.

The Junior Varsity team also had a season to remember, securing the Central Jersey championship and then going on to conquer the state and Eastern region competitions. Their hard work and determination paid off as they ultimately claimed the coveted title of 2024 Pop Warner national champions.

The Edison Jets cheer program’s success this season is a direct result of the incredible hard work and dedication displayed by every athlete. These girls have poured countless hours into perfecting their routines, pushing their limits, and supporting one another.

“I have been a part of this organization for decades. The very first team I coached was the 1996 Rockets, I was 13. I am so proud of how the Edison Jets cheer program has progressed over the years and evolved with the sport. We have a great board who stands behind us making sure we have the best for these kids.” said Junior Varsity Head Coach Dana Dana Lapenta. “We have countless local, state and regionals titles … but no national titles. We have placed top 3 a number of times but never got the win. The second we formed this team in August I knew this would be the team to do it, they were a powerhouse from the start. We are so excited to watch our program grow and continue to thrive!”

Their commitment to excellence extended beyond the practice floor, with early mornings, late nights, and weekend competitions becoming the norm. This unwavering dedication, combined with the tireless efforts of their coaches, created a winning combination that ultimately paid off in an unforgettable season of triumphs.

The Edison Jets cheer program has much to celebrate this year, and the future looks bright for these talented young athletes. Congratulations to all the girls and coaches on an unforgettable season!
