EDISON – Authorities have identified the 72-year-old Edison Township man killed in a shooting on Sunday as Gregory Ginzburg. The incident occurred at a home on Clive Hills Road near the Metuchen border.

On Sunday evening, police responded to a 911 call from Ginzburg reporting that a man with a gun, identified as Igor Kirilenko, was in his home. Upon arrival, officers found Ginzburg with a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Kirilenko, a 61-year-old resident of Keasbey, was arrested without incident at the scene and charged with first-degree murder and second-degree possession of a firearm for an unlawful purpose. He is currently being held at the Middlesex County Adult Correctional Center in North Brunswick pending a detention hearing.

The Middlesex County Prosecutor, Yolanda Ciccone, announced the arrest and charges. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting is ongoing. Authorities are urging anyone with information about the incident to contact Edison Police Department Detective Clint Hetzell at 732-248-7560 or Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office Detective Olivia Ankudowicz at 732-745-8083.
