EDISON – The Edison Public Library on Plainfield Avenue, temporarily closed for two weeks due to asbestos abatement, will reopen its doors to the public at 9:30 a.m. on September 4th, as announced by Library Director Allan Kleiman.
“We are extremely grateful that the mandatory cleanup was completed both on schedule and within budget,” stated Kleiman. “With the new school year commencing on September 5th, we are excited to be back and ready to welcome all of our patrons, especially students from Thomas Jefferson and the surrounding schools.”
The library at 340 Plainfield Avenue is presently undergoing a significant two-phase renovation project. Work on the upper level began in May but was unfortunately interrupted in June when asbestos tiles were discovered beneath the existing carpet in an older section of the nearly 60-year-old building.
The timely completion of the asbestos abatement ensures that the library is safe and ready to serve the community, especially with the start of the new academic year.
