Edison School District Extends Superintendent’s Contract

The Edison School District extended Superintendent Dr. Edward Aldarelli’s contract through June 30, 2029. This decision, made unanimously by the Board of Education at the September 30th meeting, reflects the district’s confidence in Dr. Aldarelli’s leadership and its commitment to continued growth and student success.

“This year’s back-to-school transition has been one of the smoothest we have seen in many years,” said Board President Biral Patel in an email. “We are grateful to Superintendent Dr. Aldarelli, his administrative team, building-level administrators, teachers, and the entire Edison school district staff for their hard work.”

Dr. Aldarelli initially stepped into the role of Acting Superintendent in November 2022 and was subsequently awarded a five-year contract beginning in July 2023. This recent extension further solidifies his position and provides long-term stability for the district through June of 2029.

Under Dr. Aldarelli’s guidance, the Edison School District has embarked on several key initiatives, including:

    • A 5-Year Strategic Plan: This plan will serve as a roadmap for the district’s future, outlining goals and strategies for improvement.
    • Parent University: This program will empower parents with the knowledge and resources to support their children’s education effectively.
    • Website Modernization: The district website will undergo a significant update to improve accessibility and provide a more user-friendly experience.
    • Infrastructure Improvements: New gyms and classroom spaces will be added to schools to enhance the learning environment.

The Board of Education expressed strong confidence in Dr. Aldarelli’s continued leadership, stating, “We are confident that the district’s future under Dr. Aldarelli’s leadership will bring continued progress and, most importantly, significant student achievement.”

The extension of Dr. Aldarelli’s contract signals a commitment to sustained progress and a focus on providing the best possible education for all students in the Edison School District.
