Gloria Dittman Honored at Youth Art Month Exhibit Opening

Edison, NJ- The Edison Arts Society kicked off Youth Art Month this year with a vibrant celebration, but the evening held an even more special significance. The event served as a tribute to Gloria Dittman, the Edison Arts Society’s former president who led the organization for a remarkable ten years.

Adedoyin “Addy” Shittu an Edison High Senior sang the National Anthem and Heal4Music a student led group from JP Stevens provided music throughout the evening.

Ms. Dittman’s dedication to fostering the arts in Edison was evident throughout the gallery. The walls were adorned with over 200 stunning pieces showcasing the young artistic talent, a testament to the thriving youth programs she championed during her presidency.

The Edison Arts Society’s current president, Liz Hahn, lauded Ms. Dittman’s leadership. “For a decade, Gloria steered the Edison Arts Society with a steady hand and a passionate heart,” she said. “Her unwavering belief in the power of arts education for our youth has left a lasting legacy.”

Ms. Dittman, visibly touched by the outpouring of appreciation, very humbly stated “Seeing the incredible artwork displayed here tonight is the most rewarding gift.” She continued “These young artists have amazing talent, and it’s been an honor to be a part of their artistic journeys.”

Her tenure as president wasn’t without its challenges. Fundraising and keeping the arts accessible to all were constant concerns. Yet, Ms. Dittman’s tireless efforts secured grants, forged partnerships with local schools, and expanded outreach programs, making programs like the Youth Art Month Exhinbit possible.

The impact of her work is undeniable. The number of youth participants in the Edison Arts Society’s programs has tripled since her presidency began. More importantly, a love for the arts has been ignited in countless young minds.

As Youth Art Month unfolds in Edison, the community celebrates not just the artistic talent of its youth, but also the woman who played a pivotal role in shaping and amplifying it. Ms. Dittman’s legacy is a vibrant tapestry woven with a decade of dedication, a testament to the enduring power of the arts and the visionary leaders who champion them.
