Edison, NJ – The Edison Township Board of Education welcomed three new members last night as Ronak Patel, Ralph Errico, and Jerry Shi were officially sworn in by Congressman Josh Gottheimer. The ceremony marked the beginning of their terms, bringing fresh perspectives and expertise to the board.
Following the swearing-in, the board held elections for its leadership positions. Jerry Shi was elected to serve as Board President. Vishal Patel, a current board member, was elected to the position of Vice President.
“It was an honor to swear in the newest members of the Edison Board of Education tonight,” said Congressman Gottheimer. “I’m proud to work closely with our local leaders and look forward to seeing all the great work this Board will do for our students, families, and educators.”
The Edison Board of Education is responsible for overseeing the public schools in the borough. The board is made up of nine members who are elected to serve three-year terms.
“First I want to acknowledge my fellow board members who have joined me in this journey, each of you brings unique perspectives and experiences that I deeply respect. As we move forward, I believe it is essential that we set aside our differences and work collaboratively to achieve our common goals” said Jerry Shi after being sworn as President. “Our primary mission is to put the interest of our students first. By uniting our efforts we can create an environment that truly embodies our motto; Inspire, Innovate and Elevate.”
“I am confident that the new board members will be strong advocates for our students,” said Councilman and former Board of Education member Rich Brescher. “This is about working together for the benefit of our students and community. I look forward to collaborating with the board and the township to make that happen.”
