Mayor Joshi Sued For $14,553.67 By Condo Association

Edison, NJ – The Park Gate Condominium Association, represented by attorney William Brosha of McGovern Legal Services, filed a lawsuit in the Superior Court of Middlesex County on June 4, 2024, against Mayor Samip Joshi for failing to pay his condominium association fees from December 1,2022 through June 4, 2024 in an amount totaling $14,553.67.

According to the lawsuit (Mid-DC-010076-24), Mayor Joshi, who resides at 15 Carriage Place within the Park Gate Condominium complex, has “defaulted on obligations to the association by failing to make payments to the association in accordance with the governing documents.” The suit says Mayor Joshi owes $7,300 in maintenance fees, $400 in late fees, $321.39 in violations, $2,000 work order, $3,900 in accelerated fees and $1,132.94 in legal fees.

Mayor Joshi, has found himself in repeated legal trouble due to his consistent failure to pay association fees. Court records reveal a pattern of multiple judgments against him for outstanding fees, painting a picture of financial negligence and disregard for his obligations to the community. These repeated incidents raise concerns about his financial responsibility and respect for shared resources within the association.

This incident also raises concerns about Mayor Joshi’s financial management abilities, particularly in light of his role in overseeing the township’s recently approved 2024 budget of $175.9 million. ” Fiscal responsibility starts at home” said former Councilwoman Joyce Ship-Freeman. ” If the mayor can’t pay his own bills on time, why should we trust him with out tax dollars.”

The Park Gate Condominium Association’s legal action underscores the importance of residents fulfilling their financial responsibilities to maintain the community’s well-being. The outcome of this lawsuit could have broader implications for how the township addresses financial accountability among its officials.
