Steve Fulop Breaks with Edison’s Political Status Quo, Endorses Lav Patel for Mayor

EDISON, N.J. – In a direct challenge to the incumbent mayoral administration, Democratic gubernatorial frontrunner Steve Fulop has thrown his weight behind Lav Patel for mayor and his Democratic slate of council candidates Jayesh Mehta, Ingrid Chen, and Anthony DeAmorin. Fulop’s endorsement highlights his commitment to dismantling the “entrenched local machine” in Edison.

Fulop, an Edison native and graduate of John P. Stevens High School, described the alliance as both a personal and political homecoming. “Edison is where I come from. It is where I learned what it means to work hard, serve others, and fight for what is right,” said Fulop. “Lav Patel and his team are building a new future for Edison. They are not tied to the political insiders who have held this community back. They are fighting for the people of Edison, and I am proud to fight alongside them.”

Patel, Mehta, Chen, and DeAmorin are campaigning against the entrenched local political machine, advocating for transparency, community focus, and genuine accountability. Their campaigns signify a clean break from the status quo, and their commitment to restoring trust in local government aligns with Fulop’s statewide movement for change. The newly redesigned ballot position offers voters a clear choice for a new generation of leadership.

“Steve Fulop is one of us. He grew up here, he knows what makes Edison special, and he is not afraid to take on the establishment to get results,” stated Lav Patel. “We are proud to support Steve’s campaign for governor because he is fighting the same fight we are. Together, we will deliver the leadership that Edison and New Jersey deserve.”

These mutual endorsements and the unified campaign effort highlight a growing momentum in Edison and throughout Middlesex County. With Fulop, Patel, Mehta, Chen, and DeAmorin leading the way, voters are being presented with a genuine alternative to politics as usual, one that prioritizes working families over political insiders.
