Pledges Support for Displaced Seniors
Edison, New Jersey – In the wake of a tragic fire that ripped through the Menlo Manor Apartments on Inman Avenue last night, Congressman Josh Gotthheimer toured the devastated building this morning with Councilman Rich Brescher to assess the damage and offer support to the displaced residents. The fire, which left two residents in critical condition and forced the evacuation of 55 units, has sent shockwaves through the community.
Gottheimer, who had met with many of the residents just a month ago during a town hall meeting, came to the scene upon hearing about the fire. “I wanted to make sure we were doing everything possible to help these folks,” he stated. “These are our friends, our neighbors, and they need our support now more than ever.”
“I want to thank Congressman Gottheimer for coming down here today and seeing the situation firsthand,” said Councilman Brescher “The collective effort to take care of these residents has been truly remarkable. We’re all grateful for the support.”
During his tour of the facility, Congressman Gotheimer was accompanied by Councilman Brescher, who was on the scene last night. They surveyed the damage, discussed the ongoing investigation into the cause of the fire, and assessed the immediate needs of the displaced residents.
“The most important thing right now is to ensure that everyone has a safe place to stay and access to the resources they need,” Gottheimer emphasized. He assured residents that his office would be working closely with the Red Cross and other agencies to provide temporary housing, food, clothing, and other essential assistance.
Gottheimer also pledged to work with local officials and community organizations to develop a long-term plan for the residents of Menlo Manor. “We need to make sure that everyone has a place to call home and that we rebuild this community stronger than before,” he said.
“It’s important we utilize every resource available to make sure our neighbors have a roof over their heads and the support they need to get back on their feet,” said Councilman Brescher. “We need to be pulling together as a community, with everyone from government agencies to local businesses to individual volunteers doing their part.to help our displaced seniors.”
The fire at Menlo Manor Apartments is a stark reminder of the importance of fire safety and the need for strong community support in times of crisis. Gottheimer’s commitment to helping the displaced residents is a testament to his dedication to the community and his unwavering belief in the power of collective action.
