Edison Family Terrorized in Brazen Home Invasion

An Edison family is grappling with fear and trauma after a brazen home invasion on March 2nd at 4:57AM, leaving them shaken and urging neighbors to take heightened security measures. Police believe the suspects were targeting luxury vehicles parked at the residence.

The terrifying incident, captured on a doorbell camera early Sunday morning, unfolded as three suspects barged into the family’s home. “It’s very difficult for me to watch and to relive. My stomach turns every time. They came in with no fear,” recounted the homeowner.

The woman was awakened by the sounds of a confrontation downstairs, where her fiancé was facing the intruders. Four months pregnant and with her 10-month-old son, she immediately sought refuge in the bathroom. “I’m just hearing a lot of commotion downstairs, the dog barking, my fiancé screaming, the men screaming,” she described.

According to reports, the confrontation startled the suspects, prompting them to flee the scene before causing any physical harm to the homeowner. Investigators believe the primary motive behind the invasion was to steal keys to high-end vehicles parked at the property.

“Edison residents deserve to feel safe. When a family is terrorized in their home, we expect urgency and transparency from our officials” said Councilman Rich Brescher. “It’s unacceptable that Mayor Joshi who is also the Public safety Director is quick to alert us for a snow dusting, yet remains silent after a home invasion. To have only 8 officers patrolling the streets of a 32 square mile while Joshi drives around with a personal security detail with as many as four officers is a slap in the face to the victims and a misuse taxpayer money.”

This incident was not isolated. It appears the same three suspects attempted burglaries in Woodbridge and Metuchen earlier that morning, employing a similar tactic of targeting homes with luxury cars.

The experience has left the Edison family deeply affected. “It’s not going to be an easy road, but, luckily, we are all safe and unharmed, so I’m grateful for that,” the woman stated. However, she emphasized the need for increased vigilance within the community. “Hopefully now, families can see this and keep their loved ones safe, you know. Arm your homes, make sure that the alarms are on,” she urged.

Despite the gravity of the situation, Mayor Joshi and Police Chief Bryan have remained silent, offering no public comment on the home invasion. This silence has left some residents concerned and seeking reassurance from local authorities.

Mayor Joshi and Chief of Staff Bob Diehl did not respond to request for comment.
