The Edison High School baseball team soared to a 5-0 victory over St. Joseph’s High School, bringing their season record to 6-8. Spearheading the Eagles’ win was none other than Connor Murphy, who delivered another stellar performance on the mound.
Just a week after pitching a remarkable no-hitter against South Brunswick, Murphy returned to the rubber and pitched a complete game shutout against St. Joseph’s. The junior right-hander was dominant, allowing a mere three hits throughout the contest and keeping the St. Joseph’s lineup at bay. This marks an incredible stretch for Murphy, who has now surrendered only three hits in his last two complete game wins.
The Eagles’ offense provided ample support for Murphy. Darren Tirado had a strong day at the plate, going two for four with an RBI. Brody Ferrer contributed with a one-for-two performance, while right fielder Tavares batted two for three and also drove in a run.
The win demonstrates Edison’s resilience and the undeniable talent of Connor Murphy. As the season progresses, Murphy’s continued dominance on the mound, coupled with timely hitting from the Eagles’ lineup, could prove to be a formidable combination for opposing teams. Edison plays St Joe’s on the the road on 5/1 at 3pm.
