Coach Mike Yunker Inducted Into Central Jersey Pop Warner Hall Of Fame After 37 Years On The Sidelines

The Edison Jets Football and Cheer program have much to celebrate! This all-volunteer organization was named Central Jersey Pop Warner Association of the Year for 2024. Known for their dedication to providing a top-notch experience for their cheerleaders and football players, the Jets continue to prove their commitment to the youth of Edison.

The accolades didn’t stop there. The Jets also celebrated numerous “Little Scholar” award winners, recognizing the academic achievements of their athletes. Adding to the excitement, Coach Mike Yunker was inducted into the Central Jersey Pop Warner Hall of Fame, honoring his incredible 37 of service to the organization.

“Coach Yunker cares so much and that’s what matters,” said Coach Brian Calantoni, who played for Coach Yunker in the 90’s as a kid. “Nobody has dedicated more time to the kids of Edison than him. He continues to be my inspiration for volunteering for the youth of Edison Township.”

Calantoni went on to describe the profound impact Yunker had on his life, stating, “He is like a Dad, a brother and a best friend!!! Our relationship has been a lifelong bond, starting as a player/coach and into coaching and raising our kids together. I truly appreciate everything he has done for me and every other youth athlete he has coached over the last 40 years.”

A true testament to his dedication, Coach Mike Yunker’s history with the Edison Jets spans decades. Starting as a player himself in the early 1970s, he returned to the organization in the late 1980s to share his passion as a coach. And though he never had a son of his own suit up for the Jets, he’s found immense joy in coaching his grandsons, Brodie and RJ for the past five years. This enduring commitment highlights the deep roots and family atmosphere that define the Edison Jets.

Edison Pop Warner and Cheer President Dan Boslet proudly accepted the Association of the Year trophy on behalf of the organization.

The Edison Jets’ dedication to fostering a positive and enriching environment for young athletes is truly commendable. With passionate leaders like Coach Boslet, Coach Yunker and Coach Calantoni, the future looks bright for this exceptional organization.
