Edison, NJ – June 11, 2025 – The primary elections in Edison have concluded, setting the stage for a compelling general election in November with both established parties and independent challengers vying for key positions.

In the highly anticipated mayoral primary, incumbent Samip Joshi secured the Democratic nomination with a strong showing of 8,717 votes. He will now advance to the November ballot to defend his seat. On the Republican side, Gloria Dittman ran unopposed and will represent her party in the mayoral contest, having received 2,103 votes. Adding a significant third dimension to the race, independent candidate Dave Tingle has also announced his bid for Mayor. Tingle, an Edison police lieutenant and Chief Master Sergeant in the Air Force, brings a background of public service and military experience to his campaign, promising a dynamic and unpredictable showdown.

The Council races also saw their contenders determined. For the Democrats, the top vote-getters who will advance to November are Biral Patel (6,956 votes), Kelli Dima (6,882 votes), and Robert J. Kentos (6,815 votes).

On the Republican side, the candidates for Council are Russell J. Azzarello (2,074 votes), Kartik Nath (1,622 votes), and Samiksha Sharmas (1,589 votes).

Additionally, former school teacher Elizabeth Conway has also announced her candidacy as an independent for Council, aligning herself with the independent movement embodied by mayoral candidate Dave Tingle. Her entry adds another layer of competition and choice for Edison voters.

With the primary results now confirmed, campaigns are expected to ramp up as candidates prepare to present their platforms and visions for Edison to the wider electorate.
