Water Main Update 8: Still Not Fixed Going Into Day Four

Crews are continuing to work going into the day four, tirelessly trying to repair a major water main break near Ben Franklin School. The break, which is still not fixed, occurred late Christmas night causing significant disruption to residents and businesses in the surrounding area.

As repairs continue, residents in the immediate vicinity of Ben Franklin School, including the Edison Terrace mobile home park and BAPS Temple are still experiencing water outages. Officials are unable to provide an estimated time for full water service restoration.

Social media has become an outlet for the mounting frustration of residents still with little to no water. They criticize the slow response, conflicting information, and a perceived lack of transparency, leaving them feeling abandoned and forgotten in the midst of this ongoing crisis.

Here are a few of the comments being posted on social media by residents still without water after Mayor Joshi posted “Approximately 100 residences still remain impacted by low to know water pressure from the 20 inch main break.”

“Edison Terrace still has NO WATER and there is no one here even working. This is crazy going on day 4 days. Plus no information given to our community. This is not acceptable.”

“My husband went down there to the trailer for The Office of Emergency Management. He spoke with the gentleman in charge. They brought us a case of water earlier and are bringing us another 6 gallons shortly. The digging just started and there is way more than 100 homes without water. There is no timeline because they don’t have a clue what they’re going to find when they get down there.”

“Edison do better โ€ฆ not having water is beyond an inconvenience for this many days now . Mayor Joshi , letโ€™s switch homes for 24 hours & see how it works out for you .ย From a lifetime Edison resident.”

“More lies. I guarantee itโ€™s way more than โ€œ100 residenciesโ€. I canโ€™t even turn on my shower and can barely flush the toilet. Same for everyone else in my area. Stop pulling numbers out of your behind.”

“Mayor you are full of more crap than all my toilets are.”

“Mayor Sam Joshi, I have very low pressure/volume behind EHS to the point that my toilet tanks on the first floor do not fill up. The toilets in the basement do. I remain impacted despite your declaration that all is well for all homes in South Edison, unless you have included me in the 100 number you mention above. I understand that this was a large and an unexpected disaster. And I appreciate all you and township employees did to restore water service. I am more than willing to wait for a few more days until repairs are fully completed, but I do not appreciate your declaration that all is well in South Edison, but for a hundred homes. It is not! What I am experiencing in my house right now, is quite far from the service I had prior to the water main break.”

This is a developing story as we head into day four with some residents still without water. Stay tuned for further updates as more information becomes available. Mayor Joshi and Chief of Staff Bob Diehl did not respond to request for comment.
