Library Director And Library Board Attorney Get 18 Month Contract Extension

Edison, NJ – The Edison Library Board voted to extend the contract of Library Director Allan Kleiman for another 18 months at their meeting last night. The meeting, held at the North Edison Library, also saw an 18 month extension of the contract for the Library Board’s attorney.

While the specific details of the contracts were undisclosed both contracts were extended through June 2026. The Board’s decision to extend Kleiman’s time as Director speaks volumes about their satisfaction with his leadership. Since his appointment in January 2021, Kleiman has effectively steered the library through a period of growth, overseeing the successful expansion of programs and services offered to the Edison community. This extension signifies the Board’s confidence in his continued ability to guide the library towards further success and fulfill its mission of serving the public.

“We are pleased with the direction of the library under Mr. Kleiman’s guidance,” said Board of Education Vice President Joe Romano who represents the BOE on the Library Board. “This extension ensures continued stability and progress for our community’s vital library services. The extension provides continuity for the library’s ongoing projects and initiatives.”

The Library Board also ensured continuity in their legal representation by extending the contract of their attorney Dominic Bratti, for the same 18-month period. Bratti has provided steady and reliable counsel to the board, playing a key role in navigating legal matters and facilitating the board’s progress in achieving its goals. This continued partnership ensures that the library board will have consistent legal support as they move forward with their initiatives.

This news comes as Council President Nish Patel abruptly pulled Resolution R.717-122024 from the agenda during last nightโ€™s meeting. The resolution aimed to approve Mayor Joshiโ€™s appointment of District 40 Democratic Committeewoman Pallavi Kabadi and District 5 Democratic Committeewoman Rinki Singh to the Edison Library Board of Trustees would have replaced beloved Board President Pat Massey and Vice President Sue O’Neill.

Mayor Joshi and Chief of Staff Bob Diehl did not respond to request for comment.
