EDISON, NJ – The Edison Public Library invites children ages 4 and older, along with their parent or caregiver, to an inspiring and empowering event, “An Evening of Black Girl Joy,” on Wednesday, September 25th, at 6 p.m.

Join authors Ali Kamanda and Jorge Redmond at the Main Library 340 Plainfield Ave. for a discussion and signing of their soon-to-be-released picture book, Black Girl, Black Girl.

“The Edison Public Library is thrilled to host this event and we are eagerly anticipating the arrival of Ali Kamanda and Jorge Redmond,” said Caroline Aversano, Supervising Librarian, Programs and Services. “This is a wonderful opportunity not only for the authors to share their new book, but also for our young patrons to connect with the authors of a book written specifically for them.”

Black Girl, Black Girl is a celebration of self-esteem and empowerment, drawing inspiration from the remarkable role models who paved the way. From civil rights activists like nurse Claudette Colvin and singer/songwriter/actress Miriam Mekaba, to three-time Olympic gold medalist Wilma Rudolph, and Kamala Harris, the first black female vice president of the United States, this book offers an uplifting and beautiful introduction to the strong women who have shaped our history.

Don’t miss this chance to celebrate Black girl joy and be inspired by the stories of remarkable women!
