Candido N. Manalo, 71, of Edison, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 5, 2024. Born in Pampanga, Philippines, Candido’s journey led him to Saudi Arabia before settling in New York in 1992. He later moved to New Jersey, where he became a cherished member of the Edison community. Candido dedicated many years to Globe Dye Cutting in Metuchen as an Operations Supervisor, leaving a legacy of hard work and dedication.
Candido was a man of faith, finding solace and community at St. Matthew’s Church in Edison. He shared a love for weekday morning mass with his beloved wife, Lydia.
Beyond his professional life, Candido embraced the simple pleasures that life offered. He was an avid basketball fan, enjoying both watching games and playing with his daughter and neighbors. Cooking was his true passion, especially when he could share his delicious creations with loved ones. Music filled his home, particularly the timeless melodies of the Beatles and Eagles. Weekends were marked by the comforting sounds of his CD collection, and the familiar tune of “Let It Be” signaled that something special was cooking in the kitchen.
Candido’s days began early, often before sunrise. He cherished his morning bike rides on his vintage bicycle, a familiar sight around the neighborhood, always accompanied by a warm smile. Summer was his favorite season, a time to cultivate his garden and share its bounty with friends and family. Above all, he treasured the moments spent with his wife and daughter, whether on weekend getaways, thrifting adventures, or simply enjoying wings and TV together.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at the Costello-Runyon Funeral Home, 568 Middlesex Avenue, Metuchen 08840, on Sunday, August 11, 2024, from 2 to 4pm and Monday, August 12, 2024, from 7 to 9pm.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, at 10:00am at Guardian Angel Church in Edison. Interment will follow at 12:00pm at Holy Cross Cemetery in Basking Ridge.
Candido’s life was a testament to the beauty of simplicity and kindness. He found joy in a $2 pair of pants from Bo’s Attic Thrift Shop, souvenir t-shirts from his daughter’s travels, and a large black coffee with a splash of milk. In honor of his memory, consider sharing his kindness by buying a stranger their morning coffee. It’s a small gesture that can brighten someone’s day and carry forward Candido’s legacy of love and generosity.
