The Middlesex County Democratic Committee has officially selected its candidates to represent the party in Edison’s upcoming June 10th primary. The primary elections are expected to be highly competitive, and the committee’s decision has generated significant attention.

In a notable contest for the Mayor’s seat, incumbent Mayor Joshi defeated Councilman Ajay Patil by a margin of 81 votes to 59. This victory sets the stage for hotly contested primary between Mayor Joshi and his one time running mate Councilman Ajay patil.

The race for council seats saw a high level of voter engagement. Rob Kentos emerged as the top vote-getter for council, a strong showing for the very popular President of the Metuchen-Edison Historical Society, close behind Kentos was Kelly Dima, securing the second seat.

The final spot on the council came down to the wire, as former Board of Education President Biral Patel and Ingrid Chen were tied in the first round of voting with Patel winning a runoff, ultimately earning the third council seat.

With these decisions made, the Middlesex County Democratic Committee has set the stage for an exciting and closely watched primary election. Candidates will now focus on building their campaigns and securing support from voters as they prepare for the upcoming contest.
