Edison, NJ – Robert Kentos, a lifelong resident deeply rooted in the fabric of Edison for 50 years, stands as a uniquely qualified candidate for the Township Council. With a career spanning three decades in engineering and information technology, coupled with a lifetime of community engagement and a profound understanding of Edison’s intricacies, Kentos offers a blend of practical expertise and dedicated public service.

Currently serving as an Enterprise Architect at a Major Insurance Ratings Company, Rob brings a highly analytical and problem-solving mindset to the table – skills invaluable for navigating the complex challenges facing a growing municipality like Edison. His professional background in IT and engineering equips him with the ability to understand and address modern infrastructure needs and technological advancements.

Beyond his impressive professional career, Rob Kentos is a dedicated family man. As a married father of six, he understands the concerns of Edison families firsthand. Four of his children have benefited from the Edison Public Schools, and two have attended St. Thomas Aquinas in Edison, demonstrating his personal investment in the quality of education and community resources available to residents.

Kentos’s commitment to Edison extends far beyond his personal life and professional endeavors. His extensive record of community involvement showcases a deep-seated desire to serve:

    • Edison Democratic Committeeman in District 20 (Fmr. Vice Chair)
    • President of the Metuchen-Edison Historical Society
    • Former SAL Vice Commander of the American Legion Post 435
    • Trustee – Danish Cultural Center & Museum, Modersmaalet Lodge 164
    • Volunteer for the Edison Open Space Advisory Committee
    • Volunteer for the Edison Greenways Group

These roles highlight his leadership capabilities, his dedication to preserving Edison’s heritage, and his commitment to its future development and open spaces.

What truly sets Rob Kentos apart is his unparalleled, generational understanding of Edison. He has dedicated his entire life to studying the town’s history and infrastructure, exploring every corner and acquiring knowledge passed down through generations. This deep-seated understanding allows him to approach municipal issues with a historical perspective and an intimate awareness of how decisions impact various areas and residents.

Furthermore, Kentos has diligently studied New Jersey’s Municipal Land Use Law and the Edison Township Code. This specialized knowledge enables him to effectively assist fellow residents with critical issues such as overdevelopment, traffic congestion, noise complaints, use variances, and other community concerns. He is not just an advocate; he is a knowledgeable resource.

If elected to the Council, Rob Kentos is committed to several key priorities:

    • Improving the Administration’s Responsiveness: He aims to enhance the township government’s ability to respond to residents’ needs, particularly at council meetings.
    • Protecting Constitutional Rights at Council Meetings: Kentos believes residents who attend council meetings deserve to have their questions answered and to feel confident that their concerns are understood and actively addressed.
    • Curbing Overdevelopment: Leveraging his understanding of land use laws, he seeks to responsibly manage development to preserve Edison’s character and quality of life.
    • Protecting Residents’ Wallets: Kentos is committed to fiscal responsibility and ensuring that taxpayer dollars are used wisely and efficiently.

Rob Kentos’ unique blend of professional expertise, lifelong residency, deep historical knowledge, legal understanding, and extensive community service makes him an exceptionally well-qualified candidate for Edison Council.
