The S.M.A.R.T Foundation (Single Moms All Rise Together), a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering single mothers and their children, is taking a crucial step to ensure a successful start to the school year for over 350 New Jersey students. With their first annual backpack drive approaching next week, the Foundation aims to alleviate the financial burden many single-parent families face when preparing for the academic year.

Single mothers in New Jersey, and nationwide, face unique challenges that can significantly strain their resources and impact their children’s well-being. Statistics indicate that approximately 80,000 single-parent households exist in New Jersey, with 80% of these led by single mothers. Financial difficulties are commonplace among these families, making essential back-to-school purchases a considerable challenge.

The S.M.A.R.T Foundation’s backpack drive is a testament to their commitment to ensuring that no single mother or child goes without the crucial support they deserve. By providing brand-new backpacks filled with essential school supplies, the Foundation aims to ease the financial strain on these families and equip students for a successful academic year.

Parents in need of backpacks for their children can visit the Foundation at one of the following locations:

    • August 26, 2024, 4pm-6pm: St. Matthew’s School Cafeteria, 81 Seymour Avenue, Edison, NJ
    • August 27, 2024, 4pm-6pm: Provisions Promised Pantry, 3 Waterworks Road, Freehold, NJ

The S.M.A.R.T Foundation’s initiative serves as a beacon of hope and support for single-parent families across New Jersey. Through their dedication and the generosity of the community, they are making a tangible difference in the lives of countless mothers and children.

For those looking to make a difference or get further involved, visit The S.M.A.R.T Foundation’s website at www.TheSMARTFoundation.org to learn more about their initiatives or make a donation.
