Edison, NJ – For the second consecutive game, the Edison High School baseball team (1-3) found itself locked in an extra-inning battle, this time against a tough Monroe squad (3-1). Despite a strong pitching performance and opportunities, the Eagles ultimately fell to the Falcons by a score of 2-1 in a tense ten-inning affair on a chilly Tuesday afternoon.
The game was a pitcher’s duel for the majority of the contest. Edison’s starting pitcher, Robert Roma, delivered a stellar outing, going seven innings while allowing just one run on four hits and striking out twelve. He kept the Monroe lineup largely in check, showcasing impressive control and composure on the mound.
Monroe’s Ben Faigin matched Roma through five innings of work. He also surrendered just one run on one hit, while also striking out nine. Both starters effectively navigated through their respective lineups, leading to a tight and low-scoring affair.
After both teams scored a run in the first the score remained unchanged until the top of the tenth inning when Monroe pushed what would be the winning run across the plate.
Offensively, Monroe was led by Nick Fletcher, who went 2-for-3 with a run scored. Jake Lobue also contributed with a 1-for-3 performance and an RBI. For Edison, Daren Tirado and Dom Innocenti each had a hit, with Innocenti recording the team’s lone RBI.
Edison will look to bounce back today at home against Old Bridge at 4pm.
